  1. Numeracy Number and Calculation – I can count in 10s to 100. Number and Calculation – Addition. Shape, space and measures - Time and sequencing. Number and Calculation – Number bonds to 10/20. Using and Applying – Representing maths using objects or pictures. Number and Calculation – More than and fewer. Christmas Maths – Recap and review maths taught in a fun and festive way. Weekly problem solving activities and investigations. Access to a variety of numeracy games and websites including ‘mathletics’ and ‘bbcbitesize’ on the netbooks and smartboard. Literacy Bonfire Night – The use of descriptive words and rhyme to create group and class poetry. Sequencing and retelling ‘The Gunpowder Plot’. Diwali – Non-fiction writing about Diwali. Performance poetry based on how Diwali is celebrated. Birthdays – Using ‘Kipper’s Birthday’ by Mick Inkpen as a stimulus, the children will create imaginative writing based on their own perfect birthday party. Light and Dark – A science theme to our literacy sessions this week. Night Monkey/Day Monkey (book) and Day and Night (film clip) – The children will film their own puppet show using a simple script that they have created. The Nativity – Share different versions of the story and identify the main events. ICT Using film clips to support story telling. Access ‘Mathletics’ using the notebooks. Using the writing and drawing packages on the laptops to write and annotate simple sentences. Work on developing the use of various control buttons. Phonics games. Use of Ipadsto film puppet show. Art/DT Bonfire Night artwork. Festive artwork including wrapping paper printing and salt dough candle holders. Creating table top decorations. Celebrations Year 1 Autumn Term 2 2013 R.E/Music/SMSC links Festivals of Light – Hannukah (Judaism), Diwali (Hinduism), Christmas (Christianity) Humanities Bonfire Night – Guy Fawkes and Gunpowder Plot sequencing. Armistice – Why do we celebrate with poppies? Science Light and dark -Investigating light and dark and sources of light. Problem solving - Science/DT investigation – design and make a simple Christmas lantern using knowledge of materials (translucent, transparent and opaque). Global dimensions Black History Month - Anancy stories. Marie Curie – Little pots of care (fundraising campaign for cancer care). Weekly Spanish sessions.
