  5. Your Rotation Schedule

  6. What is Logger? • The Logger module allows you to electronically record information on patient encounters. • You complete required fields and save. • Because the application is web-based, you can access and add cases conveniently. • This provides a current and comprehensive record of your clinical experience on each clerkship.

  7. Patient Encounter Tracking & Reports • Each clerkship has defined requirements(patient types, diagnoses, procedures). • New Innovations will help you keep track of how well you are meeting the objectives of each clerkship. • Clerkship directors and coordinators can view online reports of student progress. • In the event that a required area is lacking, clerkship directors may mandate additional activities or experiences.

  8. Summary of Logger Steps • Choose Logger and click on Log a Case. • Your current clerkship should appear in the Rotation field. • Enter the date of the patient encounter. • Complete each field. Fields marked with * are required. • Save your case log entry.

  9. Logging a Case • Record the date of the patient encounter. • Begin recording case information.

  10. Logging a Case • Complete Procedure and Diagnosis fields as required. • Continue to record information.

  11. Logging a Case • Record patient information. • Use the medical record number and avoid inserting names.

  12. Logging a Case • Complete the remaining fields. • Save your entry. • View your logs.

  13. Case Log Reminders • Check each course syllabus carefully. Logging requirements will vary with each clerkship. • Log your cases regularly. You must enter them within the dates of each clerkship rotation. • If you complete a requirement with a simulated experience, be sure to log it.

  14. Course/Faculty Evaluations • You will use New Innovations to complete required evaluations for your clerkship. • You will receive e-mail notifications about evaluations.
