  2. Gwinnett County • Gwinnett County is located in the Atlanta Metro Area • Population – 900,000 • Employees – 4,585 • HR Department – 40 positions • Benefits Division – 9 positions • Wellness Advocate (2014) • Wellness Center (opened May 4, 2015)

  3. BeWellBeSafe • Gwinnett County has had a Wellness Program for over 15 years. • In the past, there were incentives for screenings and health risk assessments. • In 2009, the program was branded as the BeWellBeSafe Wellness Program and Alere was engaged to be our Wellness Partner.

  4. How to Improve? • In mid 2013 - we engaged Asset Health as our Wellness Partner • In 2014 – we combined our Health and Wellness Programs • In 2014 – we conducted 85 information sessions for Annual Enrollment

  5. BeWellBeSafe • After developing a more targeted and robust program, wellness participation increased dramatically

Wellness Program • Significant modifications were made in 2014 • Combined our Health and Wellness Programs • Conducted 85 information sessions for Annual Enrollment to ensure complete understanding by employees • Synchronized plan design, employee contributions/incentives, vendor partner, and programs

Wellness Program • 2015 Program synchronized plan design, employee contributions/incentives, vendor partners, and programs • Incentives are based on completing activities and employees are rewarded accordingly • We have identified our cost drivers and are targeting programs to address those specific disease states

Focusing the program • In 2014 as part of the annual budget process, an Employee Wellness Center was proposed and approved. • An RFP was issued and was awarded to Healthstat. • The build out for the Wellness Center was started in December 2014 • The Wellness Center was opened officially on May 19, 2015

Wellness Opt Out and Tobacco Use Surcharge • Wellness Opt Out Surcharge • To avoid the Wellness Opt Out Surcharge employees must complete a Biometric Screening and Wellness Assessment within 60 days of being benefit eligible - $720 additional per year • Tobacco Use Surcharge • Employees have to certify that they are tobacco free during enrollment or they will be charged a Tobacco Use Surcharge, - $720 additional per year

Paying for Your Health Care By participating in incentive opportunities, employees can avoid surcharges and earn funding for a Shallbee Account—which can be used to pay for eligible health care expenses now and beyond, even in retirement Gwinnett County funds a Shallbee Account Employees participate in incentive opportunities $$$ Employees use the Shallbee Account to pay for eligible health care expenses

  11. Wellness Center • Five exam rooms • Multi-purpose room for training and wellness activities • Office space for medical personnel • Dispensary (type of pharmacy) • Laboratory
