  2. Facts Obesity is fast becoming the developed world's biggest health problem with over 30,000 deaths a year caused by obesity in England alone. The number of obese children has tripled in 20 years. 10% of six year olds are obese, rising to 17% of 15 year olds.

  3. Exercise • 100% participation in 3 hours of high quality PE per week. • KS4 and KS5 continue to follow GCSE and BTEC courses with Health related fitness unit, linked to Lunch club and pupils Personal Exercise Programme (PEP). • Year 7 and 8, 6 week unit on Health related Fitness.

  4. Involve Community • Food at Y5 + Open Evenings • Silver breakfast for WRL • Parents come in to cook • Installation of additional water fountains + drink at desks • Display boards at every opportunity • Car boot sale • Sutton in Bloom • DofE • Free Gym

  5. Leadership • Assemblies • Constantly reinforce • Role Model • Policy review + who is involved • Food 3 times a day important..staff there + quick and efficient • Communicate with parents/carers

  6. Exercise – KEY to SUCCESS • Personal fitness / skill and individualised exercise programme • Not to focus on competition sport in lesson

  7. Diet --Catering at Carshalton Boys in now an in-house operation and therefore allows a much greater control of menus and healthy eating -- Negotiate sourcing -- Increase budget --Increase places they can eat at -- WHOLE SCHOOL COMMITMNET not passionate minority

  8. Diet • Improved Quality of Food. • Improved range of drinks. • Fresh Home made soup daily. • Fresh vegetables / fruit / salad bar daily. • Grow own food + use in café • Compulsory food lessons for all in KS3 • Do changes… often the thought is harder than the doing

  9. Diet . • Student and staff surveys to encourage healthy eating and implementation of new menus. • Ownership of food • Working with the school council. • Catering chef/manager as SNAG lead. • We will only provide welfare and environmentally sourced food [yes it costs more]
