BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY • The effort of developing English teachers’ professional competence. • Policies taken by Government East of Java that selected 22 English teachers. • Teachers of Pre-Internationally Standarized Schools (RSBI) are sent to study abroad. • Sandwich Program at university of Malang and Angeles University Foundation

  3. METHOD • Describing English teachers’ feelings, expectations and their perspective on professional development. • Giving questionnaire with three open ended questions.

  7. CONCLUSION • Studying overseas contributed to professional development. • The opportunity to study overseas was welcome cheerfully with various expectation. • The study suggest the academic and cultural benefits • The policy will be maintained in the following years by the government.
