  2. Friendships • Children begin to have different values in friendships • Loyalty • Trust • Mostly friends of the same sex • Become interested in relationships with the opposite sex

  3. Peer Pressure • Becomes very prominent • Children want to be accepted • Can be good or bad • Conformity- being like one another • Help children to understand what peer pressure is • Peer pressure becomes challenge for moral development in children

Family Relationships • Become more independent from family • Start relying less on parents • Get along with siblings far away in age • Age 7- are more dependent on parents but challenge authority • Age 8- cling to their parents • Age 9- ignore adults and become self-involved • Age 10 to 12- children are cooperative but more independent

  5. Moral Development • Parents should set a good example • Learn the difference between right and wrong • Support their child and talk about situations that could occur
