  7. LSI 6498 Overview • 6th generation Redundant XBB architecture with Native InfiniBand Host • Four 10 Gb/s InfiniBand host-side interfaces • Eight 4 Gb/s Fibre Channeldrive-side interfaces • Support for up to 224 FC and/or SATA disk drives • Over 100 TB Capacity • Switched drive modules reduce latency and improve RAS • LSI storage systems technologies are available through OEMs • Standard Management Interface

  8. InfiniBand – Customer Experiences • Early Adopters • Strong opinions about direction • Insisted on co-development or alpha-level testing • Put resulting product into production and have not upgraded • Government Agencies and/or Labs • Co-development with very large test beds • Continue to push the technology to the limits • Have vision beyond capabilities of current generation of products

  9. InfiniBand – Customer Experiences • Commercial Customers • Looking for less expensive alternatives • Looking for performance enhancements beyond existing alternatives • Grid systems becoming more viable as applications are developed • Grass-roots Efforts • Many OEM Partners are just now deciding it is a viable solution • Some Partners’ internal labs have been testing for months • Generating demand from within

  10. InfiniBand – Development Experiences • IBTA Plugfest – Spring 2006 – University of New Hampshire • Storage array was connected, configured, and simply worked! • Commercial customers attended to observer the technology exchange • Valuable relationships formed • SC05 – Nov 2005, Seattle, WA • StorCloud – Interoperability pushed to the limits • Booth activity with many of our Partners • Lots of Customer interest • Post-SC05 Customer engagements ongoing

  11. InfiniBand – Development Continues • Driver Development • Lots of ongoing activity with the IB component vendors to ensure interoperability • Lots of ongoing activity with our Partners to develop host-side device drivers • Introducing “Enterprise Ready” Storage concepts to component suppliers who have not worked in this area before • Multi-path I/O Drivers • Failover Drivers • Providing years of FC Enterprise Experience to the IB community to ensure that IB Storage is a viable unified wire option • Moving to OFED 1.1 SRP driver

  12. InfiniBand – Upcoming Committments • IBTA Plugfest – Fall 2006 – University of New Hampshire • We will attend and continue to support the IB community • SC06 – Nov 2006, Tampa, FL • We will attend and continue to support our Partners and the IB community
