CONSTITUTION: • Constituted by the Government of Meghalaya and registered under Societies Registration Acts 1983. • MISSION: • To ensure effective utilization of Science & • Technology for all round development of the State. • FUNCTION: • To identify, formulate, execute/co-ordinate and • follow-up programmes/schemes for the State on • various aspects of Science & Technology.

PROGRAMMES: • Popularisation of Science Programmewith an aim of to inculcate a scientific temper amongst the general public particularly school children, and ultimately to generate scientific minded citizens in the State • Scientific Research and Development of Appropriate Technologies Programme with an aim to o put an effort to initiate the application of appropriate technologies for socio- economic development particularly for improving the living condition. • Remote Sensing Programmewith an aim to impart GIS training to the students and general mass. • Sponsored projects Programmewith an aim to support students project in the field of innovations, technology intervention and environment related. • Specific projects Programmewith an aim to carry out action research in the field to test new and improved technology innovation. • Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Programmewith an aim to impart training to developed entrepreneurship skill among unemployed youth through S & T intervention. • S&T Library & Documentation Programmewith an aim to document the council activities. • Convergence programmewith other institutes such as MBDA, SIRD etc. • Centrally funded programmethrough DST, DBT etc

SPONSORED PROJECTS: Aim of the Programme: To support students project in the field of innovations, technology intervention and environment related Objectives: • To improve the quality of learning by promoting innovative projects aimed at solving development problems of the State of Meghalaya through the application of Science & Technology. • To identify the Science & Technology talents available in the State and promote start-up incubation centers. • To motivate interns to take up R & D oriented projects. • To generate project ideas for development of appropriate technologies for the state

What we want? • Innovative ideas pertaining to the problems of people at the grassroots level as per SD Goals. • Low Cost technology which can be applied in the field through action research. • Green technology ideas in term of waste management, environment development etc. • Projects which can results in patent registration of prototype or products.

  12. Who can apply? • Any Interested individual or a group of individuals who have identified local specific issues that could be intervene through S & T inputs. • Students doing their final year degree/diploma course (provided taking up such project work is part of syllabus).

What's Next? • Selected and sponsored project will.. • be exhibited in various programme of the Council and a Special Seminar –Cum-Exhibition will also be arranged for the successful projects. • Popularization of the successful projects would be taken up by the Council in consultation with the respective Project Team
