Expository Writing

This guide discusses the essential components of introductions in expository writing, focusing on the structure that engages readers effectively. Starting with a compelling "hook," the introduction should provide background information on the topic, followed by a clear controlling idea or thesis that states the writer's position. Finally, a well-formulated forecast indicates what to expect in the essay. Understanding these elements ensures a captivating and informative opening that sets the tone for the rest of the piece.
