  1. DECEMBER/JANUARY NEWSLETTER! Teacher : MRS. SIDDIQUI Contact Me: GSIDDIQUI27@GMAIL.COM Reading Science • We wrapped up our unit on living/nonliving things and animals! • We learned how animals move, where they live and how they grow. We also learned how they are alike and different! • We have been working hard on sight words and short “i” word families! • We read the following stories: “Deep Snow”, The Lion and The Mouse”, “My Dad and I”, ”Friends at School”, “The Amazing Little Porridge Pot”, and “Martin Luther King Jr.” Social Studies • We wrapped up our unit on “who we are”. In this unit we talked about families, what kind of homes they live in, how to get along, school helpers and school rules! Math • We wrapped up chapter 4 and 5 on composing/decomposing numbers (addition) • We started chapter 6 on subtraction and ten frames! • Accelerated students are working on double digit addition without regrouping! • We are learning to count by tens starting at ANY given number!! KG Happenings! • We talked about Martin Luther King and how he helped change our country! • Students learned about what laws are and how they were unfair long time ago! • Students wrote their own speech and made a project do go with the dream that MLK had! Live The Dream!

  2. Art projects!! Scholastic Reader! • We made a winter scene using blue/purple tissue for the background and then we added a snowman onto it with some glitter for snow! • We made winter homes using construction paper, printed paper and chalk to make snowflakes! • In our scholastic reader we read about the following topics: • Martin Luther King • Penguins • Hygiene Reminders • Please check out our wishlist located by the classroom door! Any donation would be highly appreciated! • Students may wear boots to school, but must have a pair of shoes to change into. • Please send in one (pk of 4) of thick colored expo markers and one (pk of 4) of thin expo markers if you have not yet done so! A big thanks! • Thank you to Mrs. Aman and Mrs. Puthawala for donating to our class! • Thank you Mrs. Ismael for coming in as mystery reader!
