  1. IGenech’s news 27/02/2014 What’s on ? By Camille L, Théo M, Gabriel D Play review about Frankenstein Frankenstein was written by Mary Shelley in 1817. At the Victorian age, it was the time of science revolution, discovery industrialization, and scientific advances. The play took place at the Sebastopol theatre in Lille on Tuesday, January 21st 2014. It lasted an hour and half. Sixth formers were able to attend the performance with their tutor and their English teacher. Theatre in English is composed of 4 British actors, the director is Paul Stebbings and he adapted the play with Phil Smith. We thought there were going to be many actors as there are lot of roles but there were only 4 and we can tell that their performance was incredible, they managed to speak loud and clearly, and their interaction with the audience made this play enjoyable. The plot was interesting and they tried to adapt it in order to please a young audience. It was a nice surprise to see that different music and stage effects have been used to create suspense and the use of costumes made it easier to recognize each parts. The sad bit is that they didn’t use many props. Most of us enjoyed the play as it is modern and funny, although it was quite challenging to understand all the cues as they were given quickly but we managed and we’re sure you will too. Don’t worry if you can’t understand everything, the most important is too stay focused and enjoy the way science progress are being approach in a humoristic way. If you get the chance to go there, we would advise you to! “Incredible performance” Victor Frankenstein spent his childhood in Switzerland with his friend and love, Elizabeth. He soon goes to University and decides to put his knowledge to work. That’s why the Monster is created. How will Victor face the terrible consequences of his actions? Find out by going to the theatre! This play deals with dangerous knowledge and the beliefs of the 19th century’s society. “Modern and funny” Obviously, times have changed since the Victorian period, but thrilling series remain famous! More and more people like that genre as it is a media hit. It started with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde back in 1886. Now they are many series on TV such as Vampire Diaries, or Walking Dead. If you are not a fan yet, trust us, by seeing Frankenstein, you will become one !
