  2. History • Started by a man named Eberhard Anheuser, who bought out a pre-existing brewery. • He named it E. Anheuser & Co. • Adolphus Busch met Anheuser and they eventually merged and formed a partnership.

  3. History Continued.. • Adolphus Busch wanted to create a new and appealing type of beer • In 1876, he created an American-style lager beer called Budweiser. • This name appealed to German immigrants, and could be easily pronounced. • Became the company’s flagship brand beer.

  4. History Continued.. • In the early 1870’s, Busch became the first brewer to incorporate pasteurization • Later on in the 1880’s, he also introduced artificial refrigeration. • In 1879, the company was renamed Anheuser Busch in order to credit Busch’s efforts.

  5. Industry • Anheuser Busch competes in the Beverages-Brewery industry, and is the leader of the industry. • The main competitors are Heineken, SABMiller, and Carlsburg.

  6. Competitive Strategies • This Company uses Porters Five Forces Model to formulate a competitive strategy to remain on top. • Can be categorized into two groups: Forces related to competition and forces related to Supply Chain Bargaining power.

Anheuser-Busch Effective IS • Anheuser-Busch is a huge economic force in America. • They have expanded into almost all of the beer markets globally. • This forces them to constantly adapt and figure out how to compete in various ways. • Anheuser Busch has responded to the demand for these styles of beer by buying up many different foreign and craft breweries. • Belgian Stella Artois or Goose Island
