This study examines the impact of parking space removals for transit enhancements in Downtown Berkeley, particularly along Shattuck Avenue. With the introduction of two-way transitways, significant parking losses are noted, including 19 spaces for angled parking and up to 54 for parallel parking. The analysis also explores the one-way transitway implications on the Shattuck-Oxford loop and potential strategies proposed by AC Transit for mitigating the loss of parking, including funding for new spaces. Policy considerations include various angled and parallel parking treatments to optimize urban mobility while addressing community parking needs.
