  2. SCO • Following completion of this lesson, students will be able to: • 1.5.1 Identify the various job roles required to support both design and fabrication in industry [4.401]

The JobFutures website produced by Services Canada that provides an extensive listing of careers including those in support of design and fabrication. • For each career listed, a wealth of information regarding job role, employment prospects, and required training is provided. • http://www.jobfutures.ca/noc/browse-occupations-interest-Things.shtml

  4. Back to the Birdhouse… • Note the various job roles that would be required in a production setting where a high volume of this product is produced. • There are various job roles required to support production of in industry both on the shop floor and in the office • The importance of the designer’s role should be emphasized and it’s impact on the various other job roles should be explored.

  5. How Many Can You Come Up With? • How many different roles will be needed in the birdhouse project?

  6. Back to the Birdhouse… So, what roles would be needed to mass-produce our birdhouse? • Machine operators • Carpenters • Supervisor • Maintenance • Cleaners • Delivery Drivers • Accounting • Staffing

  7. Assignment • For one of the various job roles identified for the birdhouse production, you are to write a job advertisement that you would post in the classified section of a newspaper if you were hiring to fill this role.

  8. Job Ad • What needs to be included? (Look at some sample ads that you can find online) • Job Title • Duties • Description • Salary • How to apply • Requirements (ed, exp, etc) • Etc.
