GNC Achievements 2014Strategic Pillar 1: Partnership, communication, advocacy and fundraising • Strategic documents developed • 3- year Strategic Plan finalized • 2-year Costed Work Plan developed • Standard Operating Procedures finalized • Fundraising strategy • Re-commitment of partners: 32 partners, 8 observers • GNC working session (February) • Launch of the Work Plan to IASC and donors (July) • Input into global documents and tools (CCRM, CCPM tool, Humanitarian Programme Cycle document and Humanitarian Programme Monitoring Framework) • Concept note for advocacy work under this pillar developed and costed

GNC Achievements 2014Strategic Pillar 3: Operational and Surge Support to Country Clusters • RRT (5 members) • 15 deployments to 7 emergency countries • Scoping missions, support missions for response and for Cluster Performance Monitoring • GNC-CT • 4 missions to S Sudan • Support to 5 country clusters implementing Cluster Performance Monitoring • Sourced additional surge capacity from standby partners- 5 requests filled • Concept note for funding developed, costed and shared with donors (launch and email)

  6. RRT non-deployment activity • Non-deployment time: 25% GNC, 25% host agency • Reality: • 13% supporting pre/post deployment, • 14.3% on cluster mainstreaming and NiE work in host agency • GNC time 21.6% - on website development, updating trainings, support to GNC events and publications

  7. Emergency response support • Syria- declared L3 March 2012, RRT support scoping mission and 9 week support • Philippines- November 2013- GNC Deputy coordinator, 3 RRTs, 2 standby partners, 2 UNICEF surge support • CAR- declared L3 in December, RRT support Jan/Feb during which time NCC and IMO were recruited • S Sudan- declared L3 in January 2014, GNC-CT remote support and 4 visits by GNC-CT

  8. GNC Achievements 2014Strategic Pillar 4: Information and Knowledge Management • IM taskforce established and had several calls • Concept notes for funding have been developed, costed and shared with donors (launch and email) • New GNC website www.nutritioncluster.org

Constraints • Funding has not been received for all Work Plan activities • Over six months of GNC-CT time and RRT time spent on SSD in 2014 • Inadequate time spent of none L3 countries • Substantial amount of time spent on PCA management by both GNC-CT and RRT host agencies • Unprecedented pressure on GNC-CT and RRTs on during L3 responses (both in fulfillment of core functioned as well as programme scale up).
