Welcome & Introductions Thanks for being here! • The new evaluation system won’t work without you • Policy doesn’t work unless teachers help shape it • We want your input • OEE is here to support you in the work • Unpacking priority areas of the rubric • Exploring the opportunities the new system creates • Enhancing facilitation skills

  13. EEF Series Objective EEFs will be able to identify, discuss, and cultivate effective instructional practices within their school communities using the tools provided by the evaluation system.

  14. Session 1 Objective Today we will: • Begin building a network • Define the scope of work of EEFs • Identify & practice facilitation moves • Explore proficient practice related to Student Engagement

  15. Defining the Scope EEFs will: • Be conduits for feedback • Disseminate information and best practices • Lead conversations around effective instructional practice • Contribute your expertise to develop resources for the district

  16. Facilitation Moves Keep an eye on: • Clear objectives • Intentional engagement of all participants • Norms & community agreements • Take notes throughout, discuss at the end

  19. Foundational Element 1Student Engagement Brainstorm What does high student engagement look like in the classroom and what skills are needed to achieve it and maintain it? What teaching skills are necessary to do this? Turn and Talk

Foundational Element 1Student Engagement Unpacking the Rubric • Read over the rubric’s description of proficient practice in the element of Student Engagement • Using your brainstorm and the rubric, define behaviors that demonstrate student engagement. • Leave space to for additional thoughts!
