The burning of Cork took place during the Irish War of Independence • 2000 people were left jobless and many were homeless • Over 40 business premises and 300 residential properties had been destroyed Cork burns down in 1920
Something Spooky • Cork City is built on mass graves • 1847 during the famine, Cork ran out of grave yards so they had to dig mass graves • Bishop Lucy Park in city centre is one area where there are 800+ skeletons underneath the ground
