  1. The Most Unlikely Places Chaplaincy Sunday 2013 Queensland Synod Sunday 2 June 2013 Uniting Church Chaplaincy

  2. Theme: The Most Unlikely Places • The most unlikely places: Chaplaincy is part of the action of the church, in participating in God’s mission, that takes us into the most unlikely places. It takes us into places where joy, triumph, pleasure, delight are sometimes conspicuously absent. • Chaplaincy is about recognising the presence of God in every corner of life – even the dimly lit or unlikely places. In the same way as Chaplains take the church into unlikely places, looking for signs of the presence of God, how can you so shape your life to find yourself in unlikely places, recognising, declaring and demonstrating the reign of God in those places? How can you recognise, name and celebrate the reign of God in the unlikely places within your own life? Uniting Church Chaplaincy

  3. Call to Worship O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous works among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised. (Psalm 96:1-4a) This is God’s world and we are part of it. In God’s world there is wonderful diversity. The Church is made up of people from the north, south, east and west. In God’s family all are to be loved and accepted. May we reflect the hospitality of God. Uniting Church Chaplaincy

  4. Within us and amongst us the Spirit unites us, building bridges we cannot build alone. God has made us one. God has made us all different! Wherever we go we can meet God. There is nowhere we can go where God can not reach us. Uniting Church Chaplaincy

  5. Prayers of Adoration & Confession • O God all-powerful, true and incomparable, we adore you. • You are present in all things, yet limited by none, • untouched by place, unaged by time, • unhurried by the years, undeceived by words, • not subject to birth nor in need of protection; • you are above all corruption, • you are beyond all change, • living in light that none can approach, • invisible, yet you make yourself known to us; • and you are found by all who seek you with their whole heart. • You are the God of Israel and of all who hope in Christ. • You are God; we adore you. • , Uniting Church Chaplaincy

  6. …… • Merciful God, • who created us for life together: • we confess that we have turned from your way. • We have not loved you with all our heart; • we have not loved one another as you commanded. • We have been quick to claim our own rights, • but careless of the rights of others. • We have taken much and given little. • Holy God, whose compassion never ends, • we ask you to forgive us our sins, • and to blot out all our guilt, • that we may know again the joy of your Spirit; • through Jesus Christ our Lord. • Amen. • Sing Uniting Church Chaplaincy
