  2. You’re Hired! • Typing is an important job skill • Many job announcements list a speed of 50 WPM or higher as a requirement for all applicants • Your typing speed can help your resume stand out from the rest

  3. Learn at Your Own Pace • These days learning resources are readily available and very affordable • Free resources are available online • Fin inexpensive typing software at most office supply stores • Learn a new skill in the comfort of your own home

  4. Practice is Key • Be consistent! • Schedule time to practice – add to your calendar if necessary • Practice for at least 15 minutes each day • Consistent practice builds muscle memory, which is key to unlocking higher typing speeds!

  5. Typing Tips • Eyes on copy – do not look at keyboard • Use all 10 fingers • Read characters, not words

  6. Typing Ergonomics • Sit up straight • Don’t slouch • Shoulders back, but relaxed • Feet flat on floor • Elbows in • Proper wrist position • Don’t arch your wrists • Don’t rest your palms on the keyboard • Fingers anchored to the home row
