Commissioning steps (1/2) In general Commissioning is a Verification of functionality (hardware + software debugging phase) • Installation of PLC, WebMas and PVSS software • Test Profibus and CANbus lines from PLC to field nodes • Cable check from control racks to gas racks • With control interface we take output objects into manual mode and operate them (valves, pumps, MFCs, LEDs,…) • For input devices we: • Take off the device-connector in the rack and observe the state change on the control interface • Provoke a reading with a change of pressure or flow in an other part of the system. Most commonly found mistakes • Cable + pneumatic lines • Swapped • Wrong labeled • Come to wrong rack in UX • Cut BUT: - “Whatever can be fixed within one day is not considered a mistake !” - MDT has 304 pneumatic lines of which only ~ 15 were wrong !!! Conclusions • Commissioning procedures are very well tuned by now. • The teams ( ours + IT/CO) work extremely efficiently • ALICE and ATLAS systems will be ready to deliver gas to chambers by end Jan 2007 (installed racks only) • By about July 07all gas systems(but TOTEM) will/should be commissioned • No “show stoppers” in sight so far (let’s keep fingers crossed…) Gas system commissioning Dec 2006 S.Haider PH/DT1
