Keys to Advising for First-Year Students • 12-17 credit hours for full-time status • 30 credits for sophomore status • 1000/2000 level courses • No night courses (exception: activities courses) • No Adult Degree Completion courses • Use your 4-year plan as a reference • Remember… • Athletic practice schedules • Athletic participation credit • Honors/STAR students • MAP grant (15 credits)
Expectations for Your Advising Appointment • Arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your appt to check-in • Bring a picture ID • Bring the following to the appointment: • TOP of the Registration form filled out • Tuition/Fees Payment Agreement form filled out • Advising worksheet with course numbers AND sections • Be sure to check ending times of courses (especially lab sections) • Please turn your cell phone to silent or vibrate • Make sure selected courses and sections are still open prior to your appointment • Write down any questions you have • Be sure to have any financial/immunization holds removed before making your appointment
