  1. Sango Elementary Monday, August 29, 2011 Reading We will not be studying a reading story this week. We will continue to work on the skills of plot and theme during small groups. Math Students will add and subtract decimals this week and test on Thursday. Multiplication facts will be quizzed every Friday. Students must complete 100 facts in 5 minutes. STUDENTS WILL TAKE FOUR QUIZZES. The best score of the four quizzes will be added to their math grade out of 100%. Science Students are studying the process of photosynthesisand will test on Tuesday. We will begin the food chain on Wednesday and we will have a special guest speaker on Friday talking to students about blood and cells. Social Studies Students will be completing the map skills unit with a test on Wednesday. On Thursday, I will introduce the government unit and assign the first of four social studies projects the students will have this school year. • JUST A REMINDER… • Please sign and return the yellow weekly folder. • Progress reports went out on Friday. Please sign and return them to the homeroom teacher. • No School on Monday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day. • If your child is going to be dismissed at all during the school day, PLEASE send a note in to the teacher first thing in the morning. • Teachers began entering grades into POWER SCHOOL last week. If you have questions about logging in, please stop by the front office. • Grandparents day will be September 2nd. Your child must have a signed orange permission slip to be dismissed from the classroom. The grandparent’s reception is in the cafeteria from 9:00-10:30. • If your child wears glasses, please help to ensure they bring them to school. Thanks!
