  2. How would you describe this character? • Describe her physical attributes. • What kind of personality does she seems to have? • Tell why you think that. • How do you think she is feeling? Support your answers.

  3. Can you imagine her life? • Where does she live? • Does she have brothers and sisters? • What kind of friends does she have? • What does she like to do? • Would you want to be her friend? • Support your answers.

  4. How would you describe this character? • Tell how she looks. • Tell how she is sitting. • Describe her clothing. • What is the expression on her face? • How do you think she is feeling? • Why do you think she feels that way?

  5. Try to imagine her life. • What is her home like? • How many people are in her family? • What kind of work do her parents do? • How old is she? • Is she happy with her life? • Does she have friends? • Does she like having her picture painted?

  6. Compare and contrast the two artworks. • Compare and contrast the background or setting of the images. • What do you notice about details? • What do you notice about color and light? • Compare the two characters. How are they alike or different?

  7. How do you think these pictures were created? • Which of the images is most likely a painting? How can you tell? • How do you think the other image was made? What evidence do you see? • What is your personal response to the different media? Do you prefer one over the other? Why? • Would you rather create an artwork using a camera or paint? Why?

  8. Look carefully at the way light is used in these artworks. • Describe the way light is used in the painting. Where is the light coming from? Is it in back, in front or at the side of the girl? • Describe the light in the photograph. Where is that light coming from? • Which picture has the strongest contrast or difference in light and darkness?

  9. Compare yourself to the characters. • Which one are you most like? • How are you like that person? • Which one would you most likely choose for a friend? Why? • Do you know someone that reminds you of one of these characters?

  10. Could you create a story based on one of these artworks? • What name would you give your character? • What other characters would be in the story? • What would the setting be? • Can you think of a character from a story you have read that is like one of these girls? How are they alike?
