  2. Chunk the text by sentence; read aloud with your partner.

  3. What is some of the vocabulary that you do not know how to pronounce? Use your context clues to guess at the meanings. Write what you know in your Vocabulary Squares. Example is on the board. • Vocabulary: • saguaro • thrives • driness or dryness ? • desert or dessert ? • Sonoran • accordion-like pleats • waxy • predators • bear or bare ? • dwellers or dwellors ?

  4. Finish • Complete # 23 – 30 choosing the best answer • Write a one sentence explanation of EACH answer. • Use evidence from the text as much as possible! • Due tomorrow
