This study focuses on the functional categorization of TUS genes in pigeonpea that are homologous to soybean genes. An analysis of genetic variants between parental genotypes from mapping populations (ICPL 151 × ICPL 87 and ICPL 8755 × ICPL 227) highlighted significant SNPs linked to drought tolerance. A Gene Ontology (GO) analysis classified 724 genes into three core categories—biological process, cellular component, and molecular function—based on UniProt data. Notably, 139 genes fall under the ‘response to stimulus’ sub-category, marking them as potential candidates for enhancing drought tolerance in pigeonpea.

Gene Ontology (GO) analysis classified 724 genes into three main GO categories i.e. biological process, cellular component and molecular function according to UniProt database. 139 genes classified under the sub-category ‘response to stimulus’ of the biological process category are the candidate genes for drought tolerance.
