  2. Agenda • Share out journals (extra credit) • Vocab quiz (M5ONLY) • SSR for 15 minutes • Project introduction • Skill focus: job apps and interviews

  3. VOCAB TEST • Validity: How reliable something is • Graph: Visual representation of information

  4. Goals • You will be able to successfully complete a job application • You will be able to apply what you have learned in a mock interview • You will be able to write your own informative paper about interviews and applications

  5. SSR • 15 Minutes • No talking, music, or sleeping • I will be around to write down what you are reading and conferencing with you about your book

  6. Project Introduction: Brochure or Self-Help Book • Research a topic of your choice • Make a brochure or self-help book • Listen to the requirements • Topic selection

  7. 9H project: News Report/Documentary • Listen carefully to the project requirements • Pick your partner and your topic • Plan out what you want to do

  8. Job Applications • What are some jobs you might want to apply for while still in high school? • What about when you’re out of high school? • How do you think it should be done? • What are some tips you would give to those applying for jobs?

  9. Tips! • Write neatly if the application is handwritten. • Write in INK (blue or black) • When you go to apply, make sure you are dressed nicely (NO JEANS. EVER). • Fill out the application in-store, if possible. • Smile and be polite when asking for the application and returning it. • Do not leave blank spaces! If it doesn’t apply to you, write “n/a”

Interview • Smile and be polite saying “sir” and “ma’am” • Be EARLY (at least 10 minutes) • Only sit down if you are asked (they will always ask) • Eye contact! • Dress as nice as possible (slacks, button-up shirts, dress shoes, skirts, blouse) NEVER WEAR: Jeans, sneakers, anything wrinkled or with holes, t-shirts, hats • Don’t play with your phone while you’re waiting for the interview! They should NEVER see you with your phone. • If offered refreshments, say “No thank you” • Send a thank you email or letter after the interview to each person who interviewed you

  11. Exit Ticket • List 3 things you learned in today’s lesson. • What are 2 things you liked about the lesson? • What is 1 thing Mrs. Wyatt can do better or explain better?
