  1. Understanding Lymphedema and ways to deal with it. Our lymphatic system is a part of our body’s immune system, where lymph fluids flow and any obstructions can cause the fluids to accumulate and cause severe discomfort and pain to the patient. Commonly caused in the arms and legs region, swollen lymph glands can cause severe discomfort and pain to the patient, which would require that the patient seeks lymphedema therapist in San Diego. Although the condition cannot be cured, however, with the right treatment, it can easily be controlled. What the doctors say: According to medical experts, one of the primary reasons that cause lymphedema is a genetic mutation and is one of the most common reasons that cause the medical condition. Other factors that can cause lymphedema are infections, and inflammatory diseases and skin conditions can contribute towards the medical condition. How to treat the same: In spite of the medical condition being incurable, can easily be treated and various treatments can help reduce the swelling and pain. Lymphedema therapists use special massage techniques to move fluid into working lymph nodes, where all the accumulated fluids from the lymph nodes are drained. The Lymphedema therapist also teaches several massage techniques that can be used during the maintenance phase. How is the swelling reduced: With the use of bandages and compression garments and by applying controlled pressure, it encourages the fluid to move out of the affected body part. Patients will also be taught how to tie their own bandages and compression garments correctly from the comfort of their home, thus ensuring a faster and speedier recovery. Why you should avoid surgery: Over the years, surgery has proven to be extremely ineffective and has yielded disappointing results compared with non-surgical therapies for lymphedema. When compared to the techniques used by a lymphedema therapist in San Diego, surgery does not make sense.

  2. With safer and less stressful options such as massages and other effective courses of treatment available, it only makes sense to seek for the best therapist around.
