    2. Life in General Life span:325-265BC His birth place is unknown, possibly Megara. He died at age 60 He was educated in Athens by the Greek philosopher Plato. After that he went on to teach at a school he founded in Alexandria, Egypt. He was a author of many geometrical and other math books.

    3. Historic Events Alexander the Greats conquest starts as Hellenism (to be Greek-like) follows in his armys wake. There is many wars against Rome, such as the Punic Wars. The militaristic state of Chin unifies China for the first time.

    4. Mathematical Success Euclid wrote the series called The Elements, a collection of books on geometrical theorems, which became a standard work for over 2000 years. He founded the first school of mathematics He proved there was an infinite number of primes.

    5. The Elements The Elements was a collection of geometrical knowledge presented in 13 volumes. It became the basis of mathematical teaching for 2000 years. The first 6 volumes are plane geometry.Volumes 7-9 are number theories. The 10th volume focuses on Eudoxuss theory of irrational numbers. Volumes 11-13 consist of solid geometry
