For exampleababindicates a four-line stanza in which the first and third lines rhyme, as do the second and fourth. Example: Bid me to weep, and I will weep,While I have eyes to see; And having none, yet I will keepA heart to weep for thee. - From To Anthea, Who May Command Him Any Thing by Robert Herrick

  10. What is a stanza? A stanza is a group of lines in a poem set apart from one another by spaces in between the sets of lines. Example: "Hope" is the thing with feathersThat perches in the soulAnd sings the tune without the wordsAnd never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the stormThat could abash the little birdThat kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chillest landAnd on the strangest sea,Yet never, in extremity,It asked a crumb of me. - Emily Dickinson
