  1. The Rules of The Tech Lab

  2. Food and Drink • No pop, gum, candy or any other sticky type food is allowed in The Tech Lab at any time. • Students can have water, but only from enclosed containers. • No Pop, Juice, etc.

  3. Music • Machines that create music are allowed in the Tech Lab, but only when WORKING on a project. • RAT on Mr. B. and Music goes away. • No playing streaming music from your computer!

  4. Funny Movies! • Nope, sorry! • Hogs bandwidth. • Wastes time. • See: Discipline.

  5. Hats and other headcoverings. • School policy forbids the wearing of a hat on campus this year. • If a student has a hat on in the classroom, it will be confiscated. • Do it twice and the world may end.

  6. Cell Phones • No Cell Phones allowed in The Tech Lab. (Especially Camera Phones.) • If I ask for your phone, give it to me or face possible suspension. • If found, Cell Phones will be taken and given to Mr. Ward.

  7. Games and Email • Access to online games or email in The Tech Lab is strictly prohibited. • Offenses will likely result in loss of computer privileges and all that other stuff.

  8. My Computer • DO NOT touch my teacher’s computer without permission! • This is a violation of the code of conduct and you can be expelled!

  9. Respecting The Tech Lab • Keep your feet off the desks and chairs. • Please don’t mess with my windchimes, my snake, my spider or other stuff without permission.

  10. IT’S FREEZING IN HERE! • Yeah, I know, get used to it. • Try wearing a sweater…

  11. Work Ethic • Up to 50 percent of the grading for any of our projects will be based upon Work Ethic. • Hard work will be rewarded in this class. • “Skating by” will result in grades of “C” or lower.

  12. Late Work • Work turned in late or missed because of an unexcused absence will receive a score of 0. • If you need help or more time on an assignment, SEE ME before it is due!

  13. Turning in Assignments • All Work will be submitted via the Network Dropbox Folder • Improperly copied or misnamed files will not receive any credit.

  14. Grading in the Tech Lab

  15. Escaping the Fishbowl • Sounds awful? You can transfer out of the class… • But you probably need this class to graduate… • However, you can get out once in awhile…

  16. Passes • There will be no Passes given to any students during the first 60 minutes of the class. • After the first 60 minutes of class, students may use one of their 5 semester Hall Passes. You have to sign for it. • Used all your 5 passes, don’t ask again!

  17. Passes- continued • Students who refrain from using their Hall Passes for an entire semester will receive consideration at the end of the semester when considering borderline grades. • Students leaving the class on a pass for more than 5 minutes will lose all passes for the rest of the semester.

  18. Discipline in the Fish Bowl consists of FIVE Steps:

  19. Step ONE (New this year) • The Corner Computer.

  20. Step TWO • No Computers!

  21. Step THREE • Long, boring writing assignments that must be completed to pass.

  22. Step FOUR • Letter home to your parent or guardian.

  23. Step FIVE • The Discipline Form

  24. REALLY BAD THING #1 • Accessing inappropriate material on the Internet is forbidden. This includes: • Any images of clothing (or lack thereof) that violate the school dress code. • Any sites related to violence, guns, alcohol or drugs, unless specifically connected to a school assignment.

  25. A Quick Test: Which is school appropriate?

  26. REALLY BAD THING #2 • Using the computer to intimidate or harass others. • This can include use of your personal computer at home.

  27. REALLY BAD THING #3 • Damaging or vandalizing any of the school’s computers or technological equipment.

  28. DOING A REALLY BAD THING? Expect loss of computer privileges suspension, expulsion, or worse…

  31. Visitors • I hate having your friends in as visitors during class. • If you invite someone into the classroom at any time without permission, expect to be disciplined.

  32. Using The Tech Lab • No students will be allowed to access The Tech Lab before school. • Tech Lab can be accessed during Mr. B’s planning periods with permission. • The Tech Lab will be available after school for Open Computer Use.

  33. Eating sticky food or pop. Streaming music or movies. Offensive Language, including the “G” Word Drug/Violence related material. Pornography. Online Games and Email Inviting Guests Vandalism. Computer Intimidation. Touching Mr. B.’s computer . Wearing Hats repeatedly. Using Cell Phones. Myspace, Facebook, etc. The Big List of Things That Will Get You In Trouble
