Do Now: Shays’ Rebellion • What major complaint motivated farmers to become involved in Shays’ Rebellion? • They were tired of taxation without representation by the British. • They felt that they were overtaxed by MA. • They did not want the state of MA to be apart of the union. • They wanted to end slavery. • People were alarmed about Shays’ Rebellion because… • the government was not able to keep the situation under control. • the rebellion was supported by George Washington. • the French sent troops to support the farmers. • slaves had never carried weapons before.
