  3. ARTICLE 8: COPIES OF THE AGREEMENT • Article 8.2 – for new and current Members “an electronic link to a secure searchable PDF copy of the Agreement. • Article 8.4 – Signed paper copies of the agreement will be housed with the Employer and the Association Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 15: PRIVACY • References to FIPPA and personal files removed • Personal files are documents in any media under a Member’s control and stored on University property, and are not required to support continued student academic needs or ongoing operational requirements and are items that are clearly of a personal nature or are owned by a former member… Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 17: ACADEMIC FREEDOM AND ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILTY • Removed: 17.6 (e) • Academic freedom does not conver legal immunity, nor does it diminish the obligations of Members to abide by the University’s Personal Harassment and Discrimination Policy or other University policies. • Core of our Governance Article has been achieved with Policy grievability and Academic Freedom Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 19: FACULTY APPOINTMENTS • 19.7 Types of Faculty Appointments (c) A Tenure-Track Appointment will be for a period of (6) years • 19.8 Letters of Appointment (a) (xi) inserted normally $5,000 (xiii) for LTA3 appointments that convert to tenure-track appointments, start-up grant application process, where applicable (where not already received) Non-Monetary Gains

  11. ARTICLE 20: LIMITED-TERM APPOINTMENTS • 20.5 Limited-Term Appointments 3 (LTA3) (d) Members on an LTA3 will have a Normal Workload but are eligible to apply for a Research Intensive Workload. Non-Monetary Gains

  12. ARTICLE 23: CROSS-APPOINTMENT OF NEW FACULTY • 23.6 (a) NEW • Where a cross-appointment is made subsequent to the initial appointment, the Member will receive a new letter of appointment outlining the home unit and all items outlined in Articles 19.8 and 19.9. Non-Monetary Gains

  17. ARTICLE 25: TENURE AND PROMOTION • For tenure and/or promotion to Associate Professor, all referees must hold the rank of tenuredAssociatProfessor or Professor save one who may be a highly credentialed non-academic within a relevant profession or field of research. Non-Monetary Gains

  18. ARTICLE 25: TENURE AND PROMOTION • If a candidate wishes to seek assistance in identifying potential referees from the Dean, the Dean may suggest potential referees. Any potential referees must be at arm’s-length to both the candidate and the Dean. Non-Monetary Gains

Once the FRC holds its final ballot no new or updated information may be added. The dossier and the file is considered closed. Non-Monetary Gains

  23. ARTICLE 25: TENURE AND PROMOTION • At both the FRC and URC if a motion to be granted tenure is adopted unanimously after a preliminary ballot, that ballot will be deemed to be the final ballot. Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 26: STUDENT EVALUATIONSOPINION SURVEYS OF FACULTY TEACHING (SOS) • Teaching effectiveness for the purposes of tenure and/or promotion may be evaluated in part by SOS, so long as such evaluations are in accordance with this Collective Agreement. • Paper summaries of SOS will be maintained in the office of the relevant Dean for the previous seven (7) years of a Member’s employment. ARTICLE 26: STUDENT EVALUATIONSOPINION SURVEYS OF FACULTY TEACHING (SOS) • Where data from SOS are used for the purposes of tenure and/or promotion, these data will include a mean, standard deviation, frequency distribution, the number of student respondents, and the number of students registered in the course.   31. ARTICLE 27: ACADEMIC WORKLOAD • The annual workload reduction for Directors of academic units will be three (3) three-credit course releases. Non-Monetary Gains

  32. ARTICLE 27: ACADEMIC WORKLOAD • During the Fall and Winter terms, the teaching of an alternative delivery course with a minimum of fifteen (15) students will be counted towards a Member’s workload. Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 27: ACADEMIC WORKLOAD • Members may request a pattern of teaching in two terms, one of which is spring/summer. • Newly-hired tenure-track Members must apply to their Dean for a second year of reduced teaching before November 1 if the course release is to be granted for the following academic year…These requests will not be unreasonably denied. ARTICLE 28: SABBATICALS • Reworking of Article 28.6 Salary and Benefits During Sabbaticals to (a) First Sabbaticals and (b) Subsequent Sabbaticals • Option to spread the impact (of reduced pay during sabbatical) equally over twenty-four (24) months (i.e. 92.5% of nominal salary in each of two years) Non-Monetary Gains

  36. ARTICLE 41: ELECTION, REMOVAL, AND RESIGNATION OF CHAIRS • A Chair will be elected in every academic unit, including Graduate Programs in the School of Education. Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 42: DUTIES OF CHAIRS, GRADUATE PROGRAM COORDINATORS, GRADUATE CHAIR IN EDUCATION, AND DIRECTORS • Work with the Dean and academic unit Members to produce an annual draft course timetable which shall include all courses in the unit’s program area regardless of delivery mode, and attempt to ensure a reasonable equitable workload among Members as per Article 27.6 • Attend a one-day training session Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 42: DUTIES OF CHAIRS, GRADUATE PROGRAM COORDINATORS, GRADUATE CHAIR IN EDUCATION, AND DIRECTORS • New 42.4 Duties of Directors • Includes providing leadership, strategic and academic plans, preparing and administering budget, supervising non-academic staff, maintaining and building relationships with external professional, accreditation and advocacy agencies • Letter of Agreement for a Special Joint Committee regarding the election or appointment of Directors Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 43: SCHEDULING OF COURSES • New process includes: • An annual review, including the Deans, Chairs, Directors and the Registrar, of the previous year’s scheduling process • Chairs and Directors working with academic unit to complete the draft loading sheets which includes space for faculty to identify their delivery pattern and time block preferences…reasonable efforts will be made to reflect the preferences of the Members of the academic unit Non-Monetary Gains

  41. ARTICLE 43: SCHEDULING OF COURSES • New process includes: • Slight change in deadlines with the publishing of the final course timetable by March 31, however, one process only for all facultieswith scheduling for Collaborative Programs remaining a separate process Non-Monetary Gains

  42. ARTICLE 43: SCHEDULING OF COURSES • New process includes: • 43.1 (g) By January of each year, the Dean will review, sign off and submit to the Registrar’s Office the final loading sheets. Reasonable efforts will be made to reflect the preferences as submitted by the respective academic units, but such requests are not guaranteed to be satisfied. The Dean’s decision with regard to such requests shall be final. Non-Monetary Gains

ARTICLE 18 RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Members are expected to seek external funding • If Dean approves substantial outside professional activities or employment, the numbers of hours will be noted in Member’s file • ARTICLE 20 LIMITED TERM APPOINTMENTS • LTA 1 remains a 10 month appointment in year 2 • ARTICLE 27 ACADEMIC WORKLOAD • Restrictions to Overload including Individualized study courses • ARTICLE 31 GROUP BENEFITS • Status quo on Long-Term Disability Concessions and Withdrawals

ARTICLE 32 PENSION PLAN • CPP language remains • ARTICLE 34X CONFERENCE TRAVEL FUND • No Conference Travel Fund • ARTICLE 35 LEAVES • No additional weeks of top up to maternity leave but we did get a Letter of Agreement to change this for the next round • ARTICLE 5X GOVERNANCE • No Governance Article 5x but gains in Article 17 Academic Freedom and Article 15 Privacy, and in Article 7 Correspondence and Information where Association has access to confidential contracts for each senior administrative position Concessions and Withdrawals

  45. ARTICLE 5: RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF THE ASSOCIATION • Elimination of payment for office space • One additional course release for the Association during a non-bargaining year along with the two course releases during a collective bargaining year and in connection with preparing for and/or conducting negotiations for a renewal Collective Agreement • Purchase of up to three additional three-credit course releases Monetary Gains
