  2. In this presentation: • What is spatial organization? • Patterns on the structure - Columns - Arches - Domes - Walls • Patterns on the cities organization - Process • Conclusion

  3. What is the importance of spatial organization for architecture and urban planning? This is the main element that we must considerate when we are making a design.

  4. The spatial organizations are the different ways a space can be organized and the different function and feeling that give each one of the types. It describes the building movement through space; is the process of arranging different elements in the space. The main aspects for the Architecture and the Urban planning are the patterns on the structure and the patterns on the cities organization.

  5. Patterns on the Structure There are four basic structural elements that creates a spatial division or made a particular space, three of them come from the ancient empires –the columns, the arches and the dome– and the last one is product of the modern times: the elevator and the mechanic stairs.

  6. Columns:is a vertical structural element that transmits, through compression, the weight of the structure above to other structural elements below. Columns are divided in 3 parts: the base, the main part and the head. There are 3 kinds of columns: - Doric columns- Ionic Columns- Corinthian Columns.Example of columns:The Parthenon.

  7. Arch:Is a curved structure capable of spanning a space while supporting significant weight. There are different types of arches: roman, segmental, Tudor, flat, gothic, Moorish.Example for arches:The coliseum.

  8. Dome: in architecture, hemispherical structure evolved from the arch, usually forming a ceiling or roof. Example for dome: The Roman Pantheon. An extra element is:Walls: structural element used to divide or enclose, and, in building construction, to form the periphery of a room or a building. In traditional masonry construction, walls supported the weight of floors and roofs. There are many types of walls: brick wall, stone wall, dry- stone wall, ashlar wall.

  9. Spaces can be managed in a lot of different ways and it really matters with one of these you apply because the sensation inside and outside can be completely different on each one of its.

  10. Patterns on the cities organization In the cities, because of the scale and the complexity of the human activities that take place inside them, the spatial organization is different. -The patterns of distribution of the areas in the cities are divided in three main types: the ones that have a central business area, the sectorized cities and the arrangement by ecological aspects.Other aspects are:-Physical and human objects on the Earth Surface. Chrisitan-Morgenstern Waldorf School, Rultingen, Germany, Peter Hubner

  11. -Location of places, objects and people in space.-The way in which the inside spaces of a building are organized in the inside of the buildings.

  12. Process The descriptive process of spatial organization uses concepts such as location, distance, density, and arrangement to capture spatial relationships.Kinds of Spatial Organization- Central Organization: central space.- Lineal Organization: Consist on a repetitive spaces lineal sequence.- Radial Organization: combination of central and lineal organization.- Group Organization:elements organized in a same sense.

  13. - Net Organization: Spaces organizaed inside of a structure.Caracas has a Central Organization.Caracasgrew to the east in a lineal organization and to the west in a radial organization.

  14. The spatial organization have a considerable importance for these careers because architects and urban planners work with design as much as buildings and cities, and giving a correct distribution to these elements can provide a successful development possible for the place.
