  3. Funds • Insufficient funds • Spending limits (segment of fund) • Year end fund lapses • Funds carried over to successive years

  4. Network • Lack of Global network among labs/scientists • Lack of access to major scientific journals • Lack of high bandwidth of computer networks • Lack of communication among young researchers

  5. Interest • Lack of interest in pursuing higher education • Lack of knowledge in research • Lack of direction on science • Lack of self improvement

  6. Solutions: Funds • NRF calling for project proposals every year • South Africa side : www.nrf.ac.za • Indian side : www.dst.gov.in • Funds about 2m in Rands and equal fund in INR • Closing date: in July
