  2. What is a pCard? • JP Morgan Chase MasterCard, property of Navajo County and JP Morgan Chase. • A convenient, safe way to make purchases and monitor your expenditures. • Will significantly reduce the number of manual transactions processed by Navajo County.

  3. Types of pCards • Individual Card: issued to an individual employee. Nontransferable and non-assignable • Department Card: issued to a county department, division or project. Transferable and assignable

  4. Where Can It Be Used? Wherever MasterCard is accepted, following County Procurement policy and procedures. Storefront Online Telephone Fax

  5. When can it be used? • Petty cash purchases • Items under $500 • No $ limit for contracted items under a “blanket” p.o. which do not require a direct release • Travel expenditures (Refer to Travel Policy for limits) • Office Depot web site orders • Invoices for services received (e.g. Verizon) • …and more!!!   6. When can it not be used? • Personal use • Federally funded purchases (if conflict in specific source selection requirements). • Computer software and/or hardware without approval from IT

  7. What controls are in place? • Merchant coding & blocking • liquor stores • furriers • casinos • jewelry stores • bail bonds • Training • Card Appearance • Reviewers and Approvers • Reports • card declines • types of purchases • specific transaction information • over 60 reports/ hundreds of queries

  8. Default Account Codes • Accounts Payable pays JP Morgan Chase • No paper statements sent by mail • No late fees or finance charges • Each card is assigned default accounting information. Cardholder reconciles account online and verifies accuracy. Failure to make required changes prior to the deadline may result in unnecessary journal entries.
