  1. List #4 Youth and the Law Vocabulary • 1. Finance charges – an extra charge to consumers for buying on credit. • 2. Foreclosure – a legal way of taking back sold property. • 3. Gross negligence – extreme carelessness • 4. Installment loan – a loan which is repaid in equal monthly payments.

  2. 5. Intentional tort – a deliberate action which harms another person’s body, property or rights. • 6. Interest – the money charged for a loan • 7. Invalid – not recognized by the law • 8. Joint custody – a court decision that orders more than one person responsible for taking care of a minor.

  3. 9. Juvenile Court – a state or county court that deals with cases involving minors. • 10. Lease - A legal agreement between the owner of property and the tenant who wishes to rent it. • 11. Legal separation – a separation of a husband and wife arranged in a court. • 12. Lessee – a person to whom property is rented.

  4. 13. Lessor – a person who rents property to another • 14. Liability – legal responsibility for an illegal or harmful act • 15. Libel – writing, printing or broadcasting false information that is damaging to a person
