  2. What is it? • They examine the ultraviolet potion of the electromagnetic spectrum in space. • Ultraviolet radiation has a wavelength of 400 nanometers which does not make it through earth’s atmosphere, so scientist have to use rockets and satellites to observe space ultravioletly

  3. Using the ultraviolet telescope, we can see far out celestial bodies in action. • The Astro-1 mission provided images of young and old stars in immense detail
