  2. Slash the Trash! • Read ALL choices • Eliminate any choice(s) that you knoware the wrong answer • Those choices are trash! SLASH THE TRASH • Think carefully over the choices remaining. • Choose what you think is the bestanswer based on prior knowledge. A B

  3. Keep on Keeping On • If you get a couple of questions that you just don’t know, DON’T GIVE UP! • Keep giving the test your very best. • You will get to an easier question soon! Keep On Keeping On!

  4. If You Snooze, You Will Lose! • Don’t leave a question unanswered. • You will not have any chance of getting it right! • If you snooze and leave a question blank, YOU LOSE!

  5. Plug It In, Plug It In Once you have chosen your answer, PLUG IT IN and make sure it makes sense. Example: 100 – x = 60 • 30 • 40 • 50 The answer choice is B, 40. PLUG IT IN! 100 - 40 =60 It works, so your choice is correct!

  6. Extra! Extra! Read All About It! • If the directions say read…..READ! • You don’t want to miss anything! • If necessary, GO BACK to the text and READ to find an answer to a question or find a clue to help you figure out the answer. T E S T

  7. Check It Out! • When you have completed the test, go back and Check It Out one more time! • Sit back and relax as you browse through your test to reaffirm your answers • Don’t be lazy. • Go the extra mile and Check it out! You’ll be glad you did.

  8. “Jail” the Detail • Highlight, underline, or circle the details in the questions. • This helps you focus on exactly what the question is asking. Example: Find the set of numerals listed from least to greatest. DETAIL

  9. Be Slick and Predict! • Read the question carefully. • Predict what the answer is BEFORE you read the choices. Example: Who was the first president of the United States? Don’t look before you predict the answer. Then check to see if your prediction is an answer choice.

  10. Be a Whiz…With the Grid! • A machine grades your tests. • If it isn’t bubbled in exactly right…YIKES!! • You will not get credit for your knowledge.

  11. Be Smart With Charts & Zap the Maps • Charts give information you need to answer questions. • Be Smart and Use the Chart • Maps give information you need to answer questions • Zap the Map!
