Benefits of Driver Education • Take the required tests to obtain a Learner’s Permit. • Classroom instruction. • Behind the wheel training on a closed range and on the road. • State road test to qualify for an Operator’s License. • Successful completion of the course may give your child a discount on insurance.

  3. Tests that we will administer for the Learner’s Permit. • State written exam (laws) • State signs exam • TLSAE written exam (Drug and Alcohol) • Once your child has past the three exams we will enter an electronic waiver. The DMV will look up your child’s waiver on the Internet.

  4. What is required of the parent? • Locate your child’s original birth certificate and Social Security Number. (Required at the DMV) • Take your child to the DMV to get the learner’s permit. (ONLY AFTER THEY HAVE PASSED THE REQUIRED TESTS). • The DMV charges a fee for the permit. ($30 - $35) • Pay a $40 lab fee for the driving portion of the class. (Make checks payable to Freedom High School). • Take your child out to practice driving. (Start out in a parking lot early in the morning on a Sunday).

  5. Each student must complete all three test with the same organization. • Test from an outside course can not be combined with the test given are Freedom and vice versa.
