What kind of food does the Florida Sand-Hill Cranes eat? • Cranes aren`t picky eaters. • They eat roots, plants, seeds, bugs, and even snakes, mice, and other animals. • They eat almost anything they can catch. How are the Florida Sand-Hill Cranes becoming endangered? • The Cranes have become endangered because the prairies are being taken over by people. • We build cities on these prairies and we plow them under to grow our farm crops. • Luckily ,we have enough prairies left that they are not extinct. What isthe habitat of the Florida Sand-Hill Cranes? • Sand-Hill Cranes lives in the grasslands, and they feed in grain fields and pastures. • In Washington, they built their nest in wetlands in areas that are surrounded by Lodge- pole Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Grand Fir, or Douglas Fir forests. • During winter they lives in, agricultural fields, and river valleys.
