About Assessment - a one-stop-shop for teachers for information about assessment: • Background about what makes quality assessment and why it is important • Steps and tips for designing quality assessments • Examples of assessment tools contributed by WSI teachers • Checklists, readings and links to procedures and external resources • Accessed from the For Teachers tab

  3. Accessing the resource 1 2 From the WSI Intranet home page, click on the “For Teachers” tab or the “Teacher Support and Resources” puzzle piece Then choose the “About Assessment” puzzle piece

  4. Log on to Equella About Assessment is stored on Equella, the TAFE NSW resource repository Use your full DEC username (jane.citizen) and password

  7. Assessment Basics This is a powerpoint covering basic information about assessment that teachers can look through as a “refresher”

Quality tab Important aspects of quality assessments: • Professional judgement • Visualising competence • Training Package world • Assessment for learning • Negotiating evidence with students • Tips for assessors All subheadings have “expandables” with more information, and links to readings and other resources for more info

  11. Design tab Designing assessment tools using 4 steps • Each step is expandable, with extra information and links to readings and other resources • For example, Step 2 includes trigger questions and links to checklists, tips, readings and advice on AQF levels

  12. Drivers tab A rundown of the national, state and Institute policies that influence assessment practice • Expandables and links to source documents, readings and other resources • This tab is for those keen to understand the bigger picture that underpins assessment practice

  13. Examples tab This may become a popular part of the resource for teachers to visit: • Real examples of assessment tools created by WSI teachers, and templates • Selectable by • vocational area • AQF level • single/multiple units • graded/ ungraded • assessment methods used • delivery mode

A sample tool Each sample assessment tool has: • Links to a number of documents (there may be multiple instruments and marking guides in the tool) • A commentary that describes: • points of interest • ways to adapt it for your section • We plan to expand this part with more examples of real assessment tools
