  1. Guidelines to Creating a SEMIS Portfolio Please Read the following Introduction Help Pages!

  2. Portfolio Rationale There are many compelling reasons for creating a project teaching and learning portfolio. Please keep these reasons in mind as you develop your portfolio. SEMIS Project Portfolio

  3. Four Powerful Tools SEMIS Project Planning Guide:A tool that helps us plan backwards (when possible in focused ways to align our projects to goals identified on the SEMIS Rubric and State and National standards. SEMIS Lesson Plan Template: A tool that helps document the specific lessons you create to prepare for and support your school team’s project. SEMIS Rubric: A tool that helps assess our progress towards specific goals and to identify important next steps as individual teachers and school teams. SEMIS Portfolio: A tool that helps us to reflect on the work we do together in SEMIS. (See the previous slide)

  4. Portfolio Outline This is the basic list of what is expected to be included in each portfolio. We are building in time to work on portfolio development during our PDs throughout the year so that each school team has at least one project portfolio complete by the Winter PD meeting. • School Community Context • Project Description Narrative • Project Artifacts • Reflections

  5. Template Tips: Filling it Out We recognize that each project is unique – our goal was to make the template flexible enough to help you tell the story of your project and have ample space to reflect meaningfully on all that you have accomplished. If you know some of this information is already written out in other locations (i.e. your SEMIS School Page, or the Project Planning Guidelines), feel free to cut, paste, add and adjust accordingly. We respectfully ask that you try to stick to the format we have created. Contact us if you find yourself getting stuck or needing something different.

You decide where they best fit. • Select Artifacts (e.g., video(s), photos, student work, lessons etc.) that help tell the project story. You can either upload them or include links to other internet sources here. • Give a brief overview of the artifacts that you have chosen to include in your portfolio. • For each artifact, write captions that describe and connect it to the project. • Share highlights from key Lesson plans. Include objectives and assessments.
