ASC Programs and Services: Skill-Based Development: Academic Intervention and Coaching PSYCH 131: “Academic Learning Skills” Seminar Presentations and Workshops Presentations by request for student groups Workshops for Academic Success Peer Educators (student leaders) Course-Based Development: Tutoring Services Supplemental Instruction
  4. Academic Intervention & Coaching Students meet one-on-one with an academic coach to discuss academic challenges. Any topic discussed, for example: Motivation Time Management Organization Study Strategies Coaching is always free! Refer students to call to make an appointment.
  5. Psychology 131 1 credit seminar based on development of academic skills Course outcomes emphasize: Goal setting and motivation Time management Study skills (like reading, note-taking, test-preparation) Campus relationships Campus resources Offered every semester
  6. Presentations, by Request Main presentation topics: Overview of the ASC services Time Management Test Taking Study Skills Learning Styles For classes, student organizations, etc. Special requests may also be accommodated! We prefer to work with you to cater to your needs, or co-facilitate. Online Request Form At least 1-week advanced notice is required!
  7. Supplemental Instruction Peer-facilitated study sessions Active learning strategies Three (or more) 50-minute sessions per week per SI Leader Always free and voluntary Grades of SI participants are on average ½-1 full grade letter higher than students who do not attend!
  8. Tutoring Services Serves thousands of students per semester Apply to GET a Tutor or BE a Tutor Tutoring occurs in groups of 2-4 students 1-2 tutoring meetings per week $4 per hour, but funding available from many departments and organizations Apply online
