  2. Why The Name and Nickname? • It’s the windiest planet. • Named after the Roman God of the sea, Neptune.

  3. The Great Dark • A black dot on the planet the size of the Earth. • Assumed to be a raging storm. • It had vanished after 5 years of when it was found, only to reappear on the Northern Hemisphere.

  4. Moons and Rings • Six known rings • Has 13 known moons. • Triton is the biggest and coldest of the moons. - Earth size - Believed that the Capture Theory of our moon is how Neptune got Triton.

  5. Voyager 2 • -Only space probe to make it to Neptune • -Was caught into Triton’s gradational pull and orbited around it. • -Measuring magnetic fields, charged particles, and other info it could get. Pictures taken by Voyager 2
