Setting Branch This book is set in Sans Souci a hotel, there are not much other place except for the resorts nearby. The current situation of the world, is that there is the world war 2 going on at the moment. And everyone is very worried about the war.
Conflict Branch Person Vs Person Tommy and Tuppence are to find the murder of a politician. He left the dying message N or M? Song Susie. They are to investigate and find out who the N and M are. They are German agents working against the United States, and so finding these two agents will be a big help. Person Vs. Self Tommy and Tuppence are couples, and even thought they are married they are forced to stay away from each other to prevent suspicion. This is very hard for each of them because they are unable to contact their loved ones for a few months.
Plot Branch Introduction The book starts off with Tommy and Tuppence quitting the police force, and trying to find a brand new job, but they are contacted by the police once again to solve the crime. They accept the request, and start the investigation. Climax Tommy is kidnapped by Commander Haydock also can be called as N, and he barely escapes getting killed, on the other hand Tuppence finds M, and they are both arrested.
Resolution N and M are both finally arrested, and Tommy and Tuppence can finally enjoy the life they dreamed of. They are also contacted by their children, and this makes them a lot happier. Tuppence decides to just stay home and knit plant flowers in the garden, after the case. However, Tommy is still in a impasse to choose the police force or retirement.
