This study examines student enrollment trends from 1970 to 1999, highlighting significant shifts in two-year and part-time enrollment rates, as well as demographic changes. Enrollment increased from 7.4 million in 1970 to 12.7 million in 1999, with two-year enrollment rising from 31% to 44%. The proportion of part-time attendees grew from 28% to 39%, and the percentage of women in higher education surged from 42% to 56%. Additionally, there was a notable rise in students older than age 25 during this period, reflecting broader societal shifts.
