  1. Oceans By: Tyler, Liana, Anthony, Will

  2. Waves • Waves can vary in size and strength based on wind speed/friction on the waters surface or outside factors such as boats. Small wave trains by a boats movement on the water are called wakes. By contrast, high winds and storms can generate large groups of wave trains with enormous energy.

  3. Beach Erosion • Hurricanes and tropical storms can cause sand to be carried into the sea, resulting in a drastic change in the surface of the land, more ocean, and less beach. • Waves erode the base of cliffs, undermining them and making them collapse. And this can create features.

  4. Wind • Sand blown by strong winds has sculpted the slender sandstone pillars of Bryce Canyon, Utah, USA. Their rugged outlines are caused by the softer layers of rock are being eroded more quickly than the harder layers. • Wind erosion is common in deserts, where sand is blown about because there are few plants to hold the soil in place, and there is no rain to bind the soil particles together.

  5. Questions • Waves can vary in size? (True or False) • Waves don’t erode the base of cliffs? (True or False) • Where is wind erosion common? • (Bonus Question, WINNER GETS CANDY!) • Sand blown by strong winds has sculpted the _______ sandstone pillars of Bryce Canyon Utah , U.S.A.
