MASTERColour CDM-T/TC Elite 35W/70W / 942 Introduction of Elite in 4200K… Since the introduction of the premium product MASTERColour CDM Elite at the end of 2007, Elite has become a new standard in fashion, food and furniture retail lighting bringing excellent quality of light in combination with lowest total cost of ownership. The combinaton of CRI = 90, efficacy > 100 lm/W, lumen maintenance 80% and long life 15.000hrs are addressing the need for better quality of light and more sustainable lighting solutions in retail lighting. Philips is proud to announce that the unique properties of Elite lamps are becoming available in cool light (4200K), addressing the same needs for excellent quality of light with lowest total cost of ownership to specific cool light application areas. This latest innovation is another step in our ambitious innovation roadmap. We will continue to develop the CDM Elite portfolio and will announce new breakthroughs in efficacy and lifetime in 2012!

It is perfect for cosmetic stores because it enhances the clean impression of the shop. 4200K light makes metallic products look extra shiny, such as silver jewelry stores, car and bike showrooms. In cold food displays 4200K can make ice look really cool and sparkling.

  12. MASTERColour CDM-T/TC Elite 35W/70W / 942FAQ’s (1)… Will the existing CDM 942 lamps be kept in the portfolio? Yes, the existing CDM 942 lamps will be kept. Do I need a new reflector when I change current Elite to the new generation Elite? The lamps have been designed with the same LCL and are retrofit in existing luminaires. In most cases a new reflector design is not needed. Some remarks: just like with any ceramic metal halide lamps, we advice to use facetted reflectors for optimal light distribution. In some applications, optical behaviour could be different compared to CDM lamps with cylindrical burners. This depends amongst others on reflector design and beam angle in combination with burning orientation. We provide optical files to support reflector optimisation. Can the CDM Elite 942 lamps be used in outdoor application? Yes, the long life and high lumen output with high lumen maintenance make these lamps very suitable for outdoor applications.

  13. MASTERColour CDM-T/TC Elite 35W/70W / 942FAQ’s (2)… Which Elite 942 lamps can be operated on EM gear? All lamps can be operated on EL gear. The following table shows which 942 lamps can also be operated on EM gear: Why does Philips recommend to use EL gear? EL gear benefits: more light output, less power consumption, better lumen maintenance, no flicker, better end of life protection. However, for existing installations it is not always economical to change EM gear to EL gear. In such cases Elite brings for the existing socket a substantial better performance. Will performance be different on EM gear for the 70W T lamp? The spec table on the next page lists target performance on EM gear and shows differences in lumen output and lumen maintenance.

Once evidence is available we will update this spec. • Changing CDM to Elite gives more light (+14%) with superior maintenance (+20%..+30%), and makes red look visibly better.
