ACCESS PROGRAMME PHASED OUT • Access Programme phased out • No registration for outstanding Access modules • Student may no longer do SLP in order to qualify for SND • Student who does not meet the admission requirements: advise to do qualification on NQF 5 with 120 credits at accredited and registered institution. • (Refer to Criteria for Admissions Manual on how to access the list of Registered Private Higher Institutions.)

  4. WHAT IF ACCESS IS INCOMPLETE? • Re-evaluate to see if student qualifies for something different. • NB: Degree modules passed for Access may only be transferred to another qualification if student qualified for admission to that qualification when he passed those modules

  6. Admission Change: (cont.) • If complies with statutory but not additional – alternative pathway • If complies with additional but not statutory – may not register for proposed qualification. Advise to register for something else.

  7. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT BACHELOR’S DEGREE: ALL COLLEGES (NSC 50%) • O levels/IGCSE: A/B or 1/2/3/4 • A levels: A - E • HIGCSE: 1 - 4 • AS level: A – E • IB (International Baccalaureate): 4 - 7

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT BACHELOR’S DEGREE ALL COLLEGES (NSC 50% or): • 60 credits (5 study units/modules) • 1 year completed qualification from accredited institution • Completed 3yrs qualification at accredited foreign institution and qualification must have been taken in English or 1 year course in English passed.

CONFIRMATION OF CENTRALISED PROCEDURE: NEW APPLICANTS • All applicants will be evaluated prior to registration. • Based on submitted documents AME will evaluate to see if student qualifies to study at UNISA and update the record. • A letter/ email will be forwarded to student/Licensee requesting correctly certified documents. • The student will also be informed if his application to register for the 2 qualifications of his choice was successful or not. • Student must submit documents before or on the day of registration. • If any of the registration documents are outstanding registration will not be allowed

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATIONS FOR EXEMPTION • Original Educational qualifications or copies certified by the South African Embassy/ High Commission/ Public notary or Registrar of South African University. • (Original translations into English or Afrikaans for foreign qualifications) • Certified copy of ID/ Birth certificate or Passport. • Certified copy of marriage certificate/ divorce decree. • Original Letter from Home Affairs for official name change. • Provisional statement or results slips (e.g.O-Level) not acceptable • Name declaration: Only if names on ID and school documents differs. • Travel documents not acceptable

ADMISSION TO DIPLOMA To qualify for admission to studies for Diplomas, a student must have a: • Senior certificate • NSC with entry level Diploma or Degree • Student born in 1969 (45 years of age or older) for 2014 academic year. • Student born 1991 (23 years of age or older) have 3 years relevant working experience & in possession of standard 8/ grade10. • “Do I qualify”...   14. ADMISSION TO DIPLOMA: INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS • Students must meet criteria as indicated in the “Do I qualify for admission to study for Diplomas. e.g • O-Level: +23 • IGCSE: +23 • Qualify for a +23/ foreign conditional exemption certificate • Qualify for a full exemption certificate

  15. ADMISSION TO BACHELOR’S DEGREE. To qualify for admission to studies for a Bachelor’s degree, a student must have a: • NSC/ NCV with entry level Degree (No evaluation or conditional exemptions) • School Leaving Certificate with a Matriculation Exemption/endorsement or qualify for a Certificate of Conditional Exemption. • Refer to “Do I Qualify for admission to study for a Bachelor’s degree at Unisa”. Page 38-39

  16. CONDITIONAL EXEMPTIONS AND FEES FOR 2014 • OCC R410 3 Year • SND R410 3 Years • +23, +45 R410 5 Years • FOR0 R410 5 Years • FULL EX R410 for life • Amendment fee R205.

  17. ACE SCHOOL OF TOMORROW • Student may apply for Diploma or B-degree • Must all start with alternative pathway • On completion may continue with the degree or diploma • No conditional exemption applied for
