What is EWB-Finland? • EWB - Finland is a non-political, non-denominational, non-profit voluntary organisation. • It is an affiliate of EWB-International. • It constitutes a link to EWB-International (EWB-I), the international network of EWB organisations. • EWB organisations exist in other countries. Among them Sweden, Denmark, the UK, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Mexico, USA, Canada, Turkey, Australia, South Africa and many others. EWB-Finland Information Night
What do we stand for? • We stand for the utilisation of approriate and sustainable engineering technology to improve the lives of (disadvantaged) communities worldwide. • Appropriate – suited to the environment and culture it is intended to help/support. • Sustainable – ”meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (Brundtland Commission). Mission • To improve the quality of life of communities, globally, through programs as well as through education and awareness. • In tandem, broadening the range of experience for engineers, engineering students, and like-minded, similarly motivated non-engineers. EWB-Finland Information Night
Vision • To deliver sustainable solutions to developing communities the world over, to make use of their diverse technical expertise to solve crucial problems that affect the health and wellbeing of our planet. • To act as a link in Finland between those who need help and those who would like to help.
